Wagholi, 15th April 2026: The Wagholi Police have arrested two individuals for selling Mephedrone (MD) and seized drugs, vehicles, and a mobile phone collectively valued at Rs. 31,06,000.

The incident unfolded on April 5, 2026, while the crime investigation team was conducting routine patrols to prevent illicit activities in the jurisdiction. Acting on the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad, the team was patrolling near an open space adjacent to Ashiyana Lodge on Satav Vasti Road in Wagholi.

During the patrol, Police Constables Pradip Mote and Vishal Gaikwad spotted a suspicious man with a four-wheeler. When approached, the individual attempted to flee in a hurry, escalating suspicions.

The officers detained him, and he was identified as Yogesh Subhash Kangare (38), a resident of Shivkrupa Building, Sai Nagar, Lohgaon. A physical search yielded Mephedrone (MD) powder weighing 5 grams and 4 milligrams worth Rs. 1,08,000, along with his four-wheeler. An FIR (No. 221/2026) under sections 8© and 21(b) of the NDPS Act was subsequently registered against him.

During interrogation, Kangare revealed that he had procured the MD from a friend named Sonu Singh. Acting swiftly on this lead, the police tracked down and arrested Sonu Singh, also known as Manuvendra alias Sonu Shankar Singh (42), a resident of Good Will Residency, Vidya Nagar, Tingre Nagar.

A search of Singh resulted in the seizure of 8 grams and 7 milligrams of MD worth Rs. 1,74,000, a Honda Activa scooter worth Rs. 50,000, and an Oppo mobile phone worth Rs. 10,000. A further search of his residence and a high-end Audi car parked in his building’s parking lot yielded an additional 23 grams and 2 milligrams of MD worth Rs. 4,64,000, along with the Audi itself, valued at Rs. 20,00,000.

In total, the police confiscated 37 grams and 3 milligrams of MD powder, one mobile phone, one two-wheeler, and two four-wheelers, bringing the total seizure to Rs. 31,06,000. Further investigation is currently underway by Police Sub-Inspector Manoj Bagal.

This major operation was successfully conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Somay Munde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Lonikand Division) Nutan Pawar.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad, Police Inspector (Crime) Pallavi Meher, Assistant Police Inspector Vinayak Ahire, Police Sub-Inspector Manoj Bagal, Police Sub-Inspector Rahul Kolpe (Kharadi Police Station), and Police Personnel Babasaheb Morale, Pradip Mote, Mangesh Jadhav, Sunil Kusalkar, Sameer Bhorde, Pandurang Mane, Vishal Gaikwad, Deepak Kokare, Sainath Rokade, Pritam Wagh, Shivaji Chavan, Maruti Waghmare, Ashok Shelke, Amol Sartape, Gahinath Boyane, and Amol Dhone (from Lonikand Police Station).
