Jalna, 16th May 2026: Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil on Friday announced a fresh agitation from May 30 over the Maratha reservation issue, accusing the Maharashtra government of “betrayal” for allegedly failing to fulfil assurances given during earlier protests.

Addressing a press conference, Jarange Patil said he would continue fighting for the Maratha community “till his last breath” and warned the state government against delaying decisions on key demands related to reservation and Kunbi caste certificates.

The Maratha quota activist said the primary demand of the agitation is to grant Kunbi caste certificates to all eligible Marathas and include them in the OBC category with all corresponding benefits.

He also demanded full implementation of the “Hyderabad Gazette” provisions related to verification of historical records for issuing Kunbi certificates and sought completion of the pending certificate distribution process before May 29.

Another key demand raised by Jarange Patil was implementation of an ordinance or government resolution extending Kunbi certificates to blood relatives and relatives connected through marriage of those who already possess such records.

He further demanded that the state issue a pending government resolution, as per 1994 provisions, related to erstwhile princely regions including Satara, Kolhapur, Pune, Aundh and Miraj.

Jarange Patil also sought withdrawal of all criminal cases registered against Maratha protesters during previous agitations.

In addition, he demanded government jobs in Mahavitaran and MIDC for family members of those who lost their lives during the Maratha reservation movement.

The announcement comes amid renewed mobilisation by Maratha groups across the state over reservation and OBC inclusion demands.
