Maratha Leaders To Meet In Pune On August 9 To Resolve Reservation Issue

Pune, 5th August 2021: After the Central Government amended the 102 law regarding the reservation, various Maratha leaders have decided to meet in Pune to discuss the further course of action. August 9 marks the ‘Quit India Movement Day’ which was launched in 1942 against British rule.

Leaders from Maratha Kranti Morcha, the Maratha community, various organisations, institutions have decided to conduct a meeting regarding the 102nd constitutional amendment granting constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).

Although now the states have the powers to decide about the reservation, the Maratha reservation problem has not been resolved in Maharashtra State yet.

Maratha Reservation Committee vice-president Ashok Chavan had demanded to lift the 50% reservation ceiling.
