Pune, 10th July 2023: India’s largest luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today inaugurated the ‘Green School Transformation’ project across three girls’ school in Pune. The project rolled out in collaboration with NGO partner ‘Yuva Unstoppable’ and is expected to benefit over 1600 girls.

The project was officially inaugurated in 3 schools namely, Agarkar Kanya Vidyalaya (500 students), Gulubai Irani Kanya Vidyalaya (180 students) and Sant Jijabai Kanya Vidyalaya (1050) students, in the presence of Evren Cakabey, Executive Director & CFO, Mercedes-Benz India. The project targets students in secondary schools from 5th std to 8th std.
The project will support the Government’s commitment to ‘Swacch Bharat– Swacch Vidyalaya’ by improving the infrastructure related to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) requirements in these schools. In addition, the project aims to enhance the learning experience of the students and delivery of quality educational content with the use of Google Future Smart Classroom.

The Google Classroom, which will benefit close to 1000 students, provides a centralized online platform where students can access all their course materials, assignments, and resources in one place. It has an integrated teaching device (K-Yan – a computer-cum-projector with interactivity/smart board, audio & video features) supported by multimedia content aligned to the school curriculum, a shareable device (Chromebooks) powered with Google workspace tools, training of teachers, and onsite technical support. Google Classroom has been an extremely effective method in improving student learning outcomes, attendance, and enrolment in schools. With engaging content, it ably assists teachers in providing quality education in a timely manner.

As a part of its focus on sustainability across the value chain, Mercedes-Benz has also set up Rainwater Harvesting and solar panel installation under the Project. Collectively, the project aims to improve the environmental footprint and empower girls to build a brighter future for themselves and contribute to the society.

“Mercedes-Benz India has implemented the ‘Green School Transformation Project’ aimed at offering quality educational facilities across 3 girls schools in Pune, in collaboration with NGO ‘Yuva Unstoppable’. This project will provide 1600 underprivileged girl children access to quality education through the use of modern technologies, better facilities, and an enhanced learning environment. We hope these infrastructural enhancements will enrich the school going experience of these young girls, maximizing their educational values, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic growth of the community we operate in”, said Evren Cakabey, Executive Director & CFO, Mercedes-Benz India.
