Pimpri, June 22, 2020: The Standing Committee of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved a proposal to set up a project at Moshi garbage depot for the disposal of bio-medical waste and to operate it for 15 years. The project will be given to Passco Company by PCMC.

MLA Anna Bansode has objected and written to the PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar that the tender process should be conducted as per the rules. Large scale corruption is rampant in the collection of biomedical waste generated from private and government hospitals and dispensaries in the city. MLA Bansode has demanded to issue a tender for the project.

He has also sought clarification from the commissioner on the following issues-1) What is the purpose of relocating the plant to Moshi and handing it over to the same contractor for long term operation of 15 years?

2) What is the intention of the administration by letting the terms and conditions of the agreement in favour of the contractor without implementing a transparent and competitive tender process? Citizens should be made aware of what and how many benefits the corporation will get from non-implementation of the tender process through a press release and media, MLA Bansode demanded.

“There is talk in the administrative machinery that a senior BJP leader is putting pressure in this matter. Therefore, it is not appropriate for the corporation administration to hire a contractor without conducting a competitive tender process by keeping the government in the dark. Taking advantage of the terms and conditions of the agreement, corruption has started in PCMC”, MLA Bansode said.

He further informed that he has demanded the state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to investigate the matter and take action.
