Hyderabad, January 21, 2021: Mohammed Siraj, who was an important part of the Indian team that created history in Australia, reached Hyderabad on Thursday. After landing at the airport, Siraj directly arrived at father Mohammad Ghaus’ grave and paid tribute to him. Siraj’s father died on 20 November. Siraj was on a tour in Australia during this time. Siraj could not attend his father’s funeral due to the Corona Protocol. However, Siraj performed well on the Australian Tour.

Siraj also made some personal records during this series. When India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by defeating Australia 2–1, Siraj’s mother, brother, and friends were seen emotional in Hyderabad. In the second innings, Siraj played an important role by taking 5 wickets in a single inning. Siraj became the 5th Indian bowler to take 5 wickets in a single inning in Gaba.

The journey has not been easy for Siraj. A few years ago Siraj bowled barefoot at the local Idgah ground in the First Lancer area in Hyderabad. Siraj, who is going to be 27 years old in March, comes from an ordinary family. His father Mohammad Ghaus used to drive an auto-rickshaw. Siraj’s brothers used to help his father.

Siraj lost his father during the Australian Tour in November last year. He was given the option of returning home by the board, but he preferred to stay with the Indian team. Siraj then spoke to the BCCI and said, “My father supported me the most. This is a huge loss for me. It was his dream to see me play a test match for India and make my country proud”
