Mother Kills Two Children, Attempts to Murder Husband in Pune’s Daund Taluka

Daund, 8th February 2025: In a shocking incident in Swami Chincholi village of Daund taluka, Pune, a woman strangled her two young children to death before attempting to kill her husband early this morning. The tragedy, reportedly triggered by a family dispute, has left the local community in shock and mourning.
Komal Duryodhan Mindhe (30) has been arrested for allegedly murdering her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Piyu, and one-and-a-quarter-year-old son, Shambhu, by strangling them with a scarf. Following this, she reportedly attacked her sleeping husband, Duryodhan Abasaheb Mindhe (36), with an axe in an attempted murder.
Duryodhan Mindhe, a computer engineer working from home for an IT company, sustained injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Baramati. The incident came to light when Duryodhan’s cries alerted his parents and brother, who were sleeping in the same house.
Police Inspector Gopal Pawar of Daund Police Station stated that the family resided in the Shinde Vasti area of Swami Chincholi village. The attack occurred around 5:30 AM on Saturday when Komal allegedly strangled her children before turning on her husband with an axe.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Sub-Divisional Officer Bapusaheb Dadas, Police Inspector Gopal Pawar, Assistant Inspector Nagnath Patil, Sub-Inspector Dattatray Kumbhar, and Assistant Constable Gorakh Malgunde rushed to the scene.
Authorities believe the extreme act was a result of ongoing family disputes. Both Komal and Duryodhan are highly educated, making the incident even more perplexing for the local community.
