The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) officials deployed at Mumbai airport were able to foil the drug trafficking scheme with their intelligence. According to senior airport officials, the traffickers had come up with a new plan to outsmart security agencies. They hid the cocaine inside soap bars, hoping to slip past the authorities undetected.

DEA officials received a tip-off about an Indian traveler arriving in Mumbai from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, carrying millions of dollars’ worth of drugs. Acting on the tip-off, the DEA team set up a trap at the CSIA airport on the morning of February 27 and detained the suspect for investigation. Upon checking the suspect’s trolley bag, they found 12 soap bars containing drugs hidden inside. The weight of the seized drugs was 2.58 kg.

The traveler had cleverly hidden the drugs inside the soap bars, hoping to avoid detection. However, the DEA officials’ vigilance foiled the attempt, and the suspect was apprehended.
