Mumbai: Cops arrest and fine woman for roaming with Ratan Tata’s number plate

Mumbai, January 06, 2021: The Mumbai Police has arrested a woman working for a company for using the same number plate of businessman Ratan Tata’s car.
The accused woman has been fined for a traffic violation and a case has been registered under sections 420 and 465 of the IPC and related sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. The matter came to light when Ratan Tata was sent an invoice for breaking traffic rules. On being asked by the police, the woman said that she had no knowledge about this. She was using this number at the behest of an astrologer.
According to information received from Mumbai Police, this incident happened on Tuesday night and since the accused was a woman, she was not called to the police station at night for questioning. The woman was called to the police station for questioning on Wednesday. The matter was understood when the e-challan was sent to Ratan Tata on behalf of the woman’s mistake. Responding to the challan, Tata group officials said that there was no traffic violation from their car.
After this, the matter became more serious, while investigating, the police started scanning the CCTV footage of the camera from where the e-challan was issued. Investigation revealed that the car which violated the traffic rules has the same number as that on Ratan Tata’s car.
Investigation revealed that the accused woman is the director of a car company. The police have registered a case against the woman and her company. The car has also been seized at Matunga Police Station. According to information received from a senior police officer, at the behest of an astrologer, the accused woman used a fake number plate by altering the original number plate.
After the truth came out, the traffic police have diverted all the e-challans which were sent to Ratan Tata to the accused woman. After this incident, the police have appealed to the common people to never use fake number plates as they can land them in trouble.
