Mumbai Police summon comedian Kapil Sharma in car designer Dilip Chhabria fraud case

Mumbai, January 7, 2021: Comedian Kapil Sharma filed a complaint against car designer Dilip Chhabria for alleged fraud and forgery. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has summoned him to record his statement as a witness by issuing summons. On 28 December 2020, Dilip Chhabria was arrested in a forgery and fraud case. The founder of DC Design, Car Amendment Studio, Chhabria, was allegedly detained under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for multiple car registration rackets under forgery, breach of trust, criminal conspiracy and fraud.

Famous car designer Dilip Chhabria was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch. Dilip Chhabria was arrested on December 28 in the case of forgery and cheating. A case has been registered against Chhabria under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120 (B) and 34. According to the information received, a luxury car belonging to Dilip Chhabria has also been seized. According to a senior IPS officer, the Mumbai Police has kept him in the police headquarters after his arrest.

The Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch raided Dilip Chhabria’s factory and seized 14 cars and 40 engines. Apart from this, 19 luxury cars and motorcycles were also seized. Investigation revealed to the police that Chhabria and his firm had also taken loans from several non-banking finance companies for the purchase of DC sports cars, stating themselves as customers. A loan of 42 lakhs was taken for each car by Chhabria Designs Private Limited. This company took loans on 90 of the total 120 cars sold in India.
