Nearly 4 Lakh Citizens Of Pune Are Waiting For Booster Dose Against COVID

Pune, 14th July 2022: The Central Government has announced that free booster doses will be given to citizens aged 18 to 59 years at government vaccination centres from Friday (July 15).

According to this, 3.75 lakh citizens in this age group are eligible in the city and they will be able to get this booster dose at 68 municipal vaccination centres in the city from the upcoming Friday.

 

On the occasion of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, these booster days will be exempted for the next 75 days starting from July 15. This vaccine can be taken at the municipal vaccination centres of the city by registering online on the Cowin app or by visiting the vaccination centres. Doses of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines are made available at these centres.

 

Earlier, booster days were paid for the age group of 18 to 59 years except for healthcare workers, frontline workers and citizens above 60 years of age. So far 38 lakh people have taken the first dose in the city. Five lakh 24 thousand 492 citizens above 18 years are yet to receive the second dose, while three lakh 86 thousand seven people are yet to receive the third dose of the vaccine.

 

– Citizens above 18 years: 42 lakh ten thousand

 

– Eligible beneficiary: 31 lakh 30 thousand

 

– First dose completed: 37 lakh 16 thousand (111 per cent)

 

– Second dose completed: 31 lakh 42 (94 per cent)

 

– Booster dose: Three lakh 59 thousand

 

“Citizens should go to municipal vaccination centres and get vaccinated on priority. Citizens over 18 years of age who have completed 6 months or 26 weeks of taking the second dose can take a third dose of Covishield or Covaxin,” said Dr Suryakant Deokar, Vaccination Officer, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
