Baramati, 11th February 2026: A new CCTV clip of the plane crash that claimed the lives of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others has come to light, adding momentum to the political and public debate surrounding the tragedy.

The footage, said to have been recorded near the runway at Baramati airport, was released by Karjat–Jamkhed MLA Rohit Pawar at a press conference in Mumbai on Monday. The visuals appear to show the aircraft approaching at high speed before going down close to the runway, triggering fresh questions about visibility, flight clearances and the safety practices of the charter operator.

The crash killed five people — Ajit Pawar, the pilot, co-pilot, a flight attendant and a personal security officer. The case was first registered as an accidental death by Pune Rural Police but has since been handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for a detailed probe.

Rohit Pawar, who is Ajit Pawar’s nephew, said he had received inputs from multiple sources and suggested the possibility that the incident may not have been a routine accident. He raised concerns about the aircraft-owning firm VSR Aviation, the handling agency Arrow, and the decisions taken by the chief pilot.

“The investigators must look closely at maintenance and operational records. Why was this company allowed to keep flying despite earlier crashes and regulatory violations?” Rohit Pawar asked. He also said that the CID does not have the technical capability to handle a specialised aviation probe and called for the involvement of an independent foreign accident investigation agency from countries such as the US, the UK or France to ensure transparency and credibility.
