New Pune International Airport Will Remain In Purandar Taluka: Ajit Pawar
Pune, February 12, 2021: The new Pune international airport will be located in Purandar taluka of Pune district. The new airport site is closer to the older airport and is more convenient and useful than the place allotted before.
The State government will send a recommendation proposal to the Centre in this regard, informed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during a press conference on Friday.
Some farmers in Purandar taluka have opposed the construction of the airport. Hence, there have been various arguments regarding where exactly the international airport will be located.
Speaking over the issue, Pawar said, “The new airport site in Purandar is more useful and convenient than the space allotted earlier for the airport. The horticultural area is less at the location and is suitable for landing and takeoff of aircraft. Therefore, the new airport will be in Purandar taluka.”
The Deputy Chief Minister also informed the media that the fire at the Serum Institute in Pune was due to a short circuit and the State government has received a report in this regard.
