Pimpri, February 12, 2021: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar was transferred today by the state government as Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Pune. He has been replaced by Rajesh Patil, an IAS officer of Odisha cadre, as the new Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner. Hardikar was in the post of Municipal Commissioner for the last four-year.

After the BJP came to power in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in February 2017, former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had sent Hardikar who was the Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, as the Commissioner of PCMC. On April 27, 2017, Hardikar took over as the PCMC Commissioner.

Opponents have accused Hardikar of failing in his three-year and nine-months term. Opposition party leaders had criticized him a lot. It was speculated that Hardikar would be replaced immediately after the Mahavikas Aghadi government came to power in the state last year.

But due to the outbreak of Covid-19, his transfer was postponed. Hardikar had put a lot of effort into breaking the chain of corona in the city. He has performed remarkably well in the Corona period.
