New technology and awareness can minimise the risk of diabetes

Doctors and Researchers of international repute shared their views on innovations and developments in the field of Diabetes.

Chellaram Diabetes Institute (CDI), one of the prominent institutes in diabetes care has arranged second Diabetes summit at J W Mariott, Pune, Hon. Andrew Boulton- President, International Diabetes Federation(IDF) inaugurated the function Today.

The event was attended by thousands including Doctors / PG Students / Researchers across the globe to deliberate on all aspects of Diabetes and its complications. . Over 1800 delegates are attended this conference. World renowned scientific experts in the field of Diabetes including Clinicians and Researchers from Karolinska Institute and University of Gothenburg in Sweden, Mayo Clinic and University of Florida in USA, University of London and University of Manchester in UK and University of Turin in Italy and 50 faculty members from India are speaking at the summit. More than 50 young researchers will be presenting posters and free papers at the conference and the Institute has instituted the “Chellaram Foundation Diabetes Research Award”.

Hon. Andrew Boulton greeted everybody by saying “Dhanyavaad”. Later he said that , From many years diabetes has become a major problem in India. Busy lifestyle, unhealthy diet, stress all are leading to pre diabetes condition. By taking proper care and spreading awareness we can minimise the risk of diabetes”

Speaking at the inauguration, CEO and Chief Endocrinologist Chellaram Diabetes Hospital Dr A G Unnikrishnan said, “According to recent surveys, more than 70 million people’s in India are having diabetes at present. In India diabetes is increasing rapidly. Healthy habits & exercise along with the help of newest technology and knowledge can minimise the risk of diabetes.”

The 2nd International Diabetes Summit – 2018 seeks to bridge the gap between theory and application and practice in the real-world. The summit aims to provide comprehensive knowledge about Diabetes and its complications to health care practitioners of India.
