New Delhi, February 2, 2021: The blasts outside the Israeli embassy in Delhi will now be investigated by the National Bureau of Investigation. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has entrusted the investigation of the blast to the NIA. According to sources, the NIA will pursue the investigation keeping in mind the Iran angle behind the blast.

On the condition of anonymity, a source said, “The NIA has been entrusted with the investigation of the case because it also has international angles.” So far the Special Cell of Delhi Police has collected explosive samples, CCTV footage, and threatening letters from the blast site, which will now be handed over to the central agency.

According to officials, there is a lot of evidence indicating that Tehran has a hand in the case. However, investigators are still searching for those who placed the bomb outside the embassy.

An explosion happened outside the Israeli embassy on Friday last week. Investigators have also found an envelope and letter written to the Israeli embassy, referring to the killing of an Iranian military general and nuclear scientist. It has also been said that this explosion is only a trailer. Police found two suspects in CCTV footage.

On Monday, through a phone call, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, that those responsible for the blast would be punished.

On January 29, a low-intensity IED blast took place outside the Israeli embassy in Delhi. No one was injured in the blast. However, the glass of some vehicles parked nearby shattered.
