New Delhi, 30th December 2021: As we all know that the year 2021 has been a great year for the electric vehicle (EV) industry, where more than one electric car has been launched and automakers are expecting that the electric market will grow further next year.

In this sequence, there are some automakers who are in no hurry. These companies have not introduced a single electric vehicle so far. Let’s know the names of those big companies.

1- Maruti Suzuki
Maruti-Suzuki is not in the race to launch electric vehicles like other carmakers at this time. To its credit only, the company has tested 50 Wagon REVs. The company says that its entry into the electric market will happen only after 2025.

Explaining the decision at his 40th Annual General Meeting, chairman RC Bhargava said “the current manufacturing cost of electric vehicles is not feasible to sell a large number of cars. In addition, under the current circumstances many things in the EV ecosystem such as the battery, charging infrastructure, and power supply are done by third parties. Hence, the cost is not in the hands of the company.”

2- Toyota
Japanese auto giant Toyota is also keeping its distance from the electric market. Toyota has invested heavily in hybrid technology as well as hydrogen fuel cells over the years. Though India doesn’t have too many hybrid cars, cars like Toyota’s Prius and Camry have become a popular choice globally, so the company is enjoying the hybrid game. And the electric market is not showing that much interest. After betting too deeply in the hybrid game, Toyota president Akio Toyoda is now concerned that the switch to EVs could result in job losses for the Japanese car industry.

3- Kia
South Korean carmaker Kia gets a lot of love in the Indian market. But despite this, the company has kept its distance from the electric segment so far. However, speculations are rife that Kia Electric is planning to enter the market.
