No Night Flight At Pune Airport Even Beyond October Due To Runway Repair Work
Pune, 11th August 2021: Due to runway repair work at the Pune International Airport, there are no flights between 8 pm and 8 am. The work was to be completed by October. However, the work is expected to extend beyond the October deadline.
According to airport officials, the Indian Air Force, which controls the runway, has appointed a contractor for the re-carpeting of the runway. The work is done at night, hence there are no flights. Due to the COVID pandemic and some other reasons, the work is expected to continue beyond the deadline.
Also, the total closure of the runway is expected in October-November for 15 days. Earlier it was planned for April-May but it got postponed for transporting the COVISHIELD vaccine.
