Now college day in Maharashtra to start with national anthem

Mumbai, 30 January 2020: Day of every engineering, pharmacy, d-pharm and architect college will start with the national anthem playing. The decision is brought effect from today, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi death anniversary. Maharashtra will be the first state in the country where 20 lakh students perusing higher and technical education will recite national anthem every day, informed Higher & Technical Education Minister Uday Samant.

Higher & Technical Education Minister Uday Samant offered garland to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi situated at the Mantralaya side garden. He paid his tributes to Rashtrapita on his death anniversary.

 Samant said that 38 lakh college students in the state would recite the national anthem now. It’s an effort to imbibe nationalism amongst them. Today is the day of paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and remembering him.  Samant congratulated Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Committee for their efforts to imbibe Gandhian thoughts among people.

President of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Committee Devraj Singh, Secretary Sumant Pawar, Treasurer Santosh Bhoir, Lions Club’s Dr. Acharya, Corporator Rajendra Narvankar, clerics from various religions and students of Colaba Municipal School were present at the event. Present clerics recited sarvdharm (all religions) prayers in their mother tongue. Devraj Singh, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Committee welcomed Minister  Samant with a bouquet.
