Now PMC restricts timings of the vegetable sale in Pune, markets open only for few hours

Pune, April 9, 2020: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a new order today restricting the timing of vegetable sale in Pune as it was observed there is too much crowd in vegetable markets, stalls.

PMC Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has issued the order that vegetable sale will be allowed only between 11 am to 2 pm and then from 3 pm to 5 pm. Also, vendors have been banned from moving around and selling vegetables in residential areas.

As per the order, only five people will be allowed entry in Mandai or vegetable market. Other people will have to stand outside at a distance of six feet from each other. There will be 10 feet distance between two vendors and only one person will be allowed to buy vegetable at a time from a vendor. Social distancing is the key to prevent Coronavirus spread, the order states.

Meanwhile, the number of Coronavirus positive cases reached 176 under PMC jurisdiction today, while 21 of them have died and 15 persons have been cured and discharged from the hospitals. The number of total positive cases in Pune district reached 210 today including 22 from PCMC areas and 12 from Pune rural areas. A total of 22 people have died while 30 have been cured in the district.

According to PMC Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, PMC is doing rigorous contact tracing, testing and monitoring with treatment and focus on training. So tracing n testing, treatment on time can reduce the mortality rate.
