Over 4,800 Booked In Pimpri-Chinchwad For Modifying Bullet Silencers; Police Destroy 542 Devices

Pimpri, 16th April 2025: In a major crackdown on noise pollution caused by illegally modified motorcycle silencers, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have taken strict action against thousands of violators, particularly targeting Bullet riders who altered their exhaust systems to create loud, firecracker-like sounds.
From 1st January to 10th April 2025, Traffic Branch under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate registered cases against 4,853 individuals for unauthorized modifications to their vehicles. These offenders were collectively fined a total of ₹48.49 lakh.
As part of the enforcement drive, a total of 542 modified silencers were crushed using a road roller at the Police Headquarters ground in the presence of Vishwajeet Khule, Inspector of the Nigdi Traffic Division.
The move comes in response to a growing number of complaints from residents, particularly senior citizens, about the disturbing and sudden noises caused by illegally altered Bullet motorcycles. Many of these riders were reportedly seen speeding through city streets and suburban areas late at night, intensifying public distress.
Authorities stated that such modifications not only disturb public peace but also pose a threat to safety. The police have confirmed that the crackdown will continue in the coming months to ensure compliance and maintain public order.
