Over 600 Medical Experts Join Pulmonology Conference at AICTS Pune

Pune, 18th September 2025: The Army Institute of Cardio Thoracic Sciences (AICTS), Pune is hosting the API–AFMS National Pulmonology Conference 2025 from 18th to 20th September. The three-day event brings together leading experts in Pulmonary Medicine from the Armed Forces and premier academic institutions across India to discuss the latest advancements and strategies for improving respiratory healthcare.

The conference began on 18th September with seven hands-on workshops, attended by more than 300 residents and nearly 100 faculty members. These workshops offered young doctors from multiple specialties a rare opportunity to learn directly from some of India’s foremost pulmonologists and gain practical, skill-based experience.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Lt Gen P. P. Rao, Director and Commandant, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC). The keynote address was delivered by Padma Shri Dr. Randeep Guleria, who spoke on “Healthcare in 2030: Preparing for the Respiratory Revolution.”

His address set the tone for a series of engaging sessions on recent advances in respiratory medicine, systemic diseases impacting the lungs, and contemporary approaches to tuberculosis management.

Organized by the Department of Respiratory Medicine, AICTS, the conference has attracted more than 150 faculty members and over 500 delegates from across the country. The event serves as a vibrant platform for sharing cutting-edge research, clinical expertise, and innovative ideas in the field of pulmonology.

Maj Gen P. K. Sharma, Commandant, AICTS and Organizing Chairperson, expressed satisfaction at the successful inauguration of the conference. He emphasized that AICTS, established in 1948, has been a pioneer in respiratory care and highlighted the importance of such gatherings in fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence in medical practice.
