Pavanathadi Jatra 2025: A Grand Celebration of Maharashtra’s Food and Culture in Pimpri Chinchwad

Sangvi, 22nd February 2025: The Pavanathadi Jatra, organized by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) at the PWD ground in Sangvi, drew a massive crowd of food lovers and shoppers. The event, known for showcasing Maharashtra’s rich culinary and cultural heritage, featured a wide array of traditional delicacies, shopping stalls, and engaging cultural performances.

Food enthusiasts thronged the fair to relish an assortment of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights from across Maharashtra. The spread included authentic Kolhapuri Tambda-Pandhara Rassa, Malvani Curry, Seafood, Vidarbha’s Jhunka-Bhakri, Puneri Misal, Khandeshi Eggplant Bharit, Konkani Coconut Rice, and Nagpuri Tarri Pohe. The variety of chicken, mutton, and fish dishes further added to the gastronomic appeal of the event.

Apart from food, the fair offered an exciting shopping experience, with stalls selling decorative items, ethnic wear, jewelry, children’s toys, books, spices, and household goods. A key highlight was the 750 stalls exclusively allocated to women entrepreneurs, providing them with a platform to showcase their products and enhance their financial independence.

A major attraction of the Jatra was the cultural program, “Mera Bharat Mahan”, held on Saturday at 6 PM. The event began with a soulful tribute to Indian soldiers through the song ‘Tu Mera Karma, Tu Mera Dharma’. This was followed by performances of popular Hindi and Marathi songs, including ‘Adhir Man Jhale’ from the Marathi movie Neelkanth Master and Bollywood’s hit song ‘Kesariya Tera Ishq Hai’.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from PCMC officials, including Assistant Commissioner of the Social Development Department, Tanaji Narle, and Group Organizer Reshma Patil, along with civic employees and city residents.

Speaking on the occasion, PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh urged citizens to visit the fair and support women entrepreneurs.

“Pavanathadi Jatra is an initiative to empower women financially. The city’s residents should participate and contribute to their upliftment,” he stated.

Assistant Commissioner Tanaji Narle highlighted the efforts made by PCMC’s Social Welfare Department to ensure a diverse and entertaining experience for visitors.

“This year, more than 750 stalls have been provided to women entrepreneurs. Along with shopping and food, citizens should also enjoy the various cultural programs organized for their entertainment,” he added.

The Pavanathadi Jatra will continue until Monday, February 24, offering visitors an opportunity to indulge in Maharashtra’s culinary delights and celebrate its vibrant culture.
