Pavanathadi Jatra: A Vibrant Showcase of Women’s Creativity and Culture

Pimpri Chinchwad, 10th January 2024:* The Pavanathadi Jatra, organized by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), is set to take place from January 11 to 15, 2024, at the PWD ground in Sangvi. Aimed at promoting products crafted by women’s self-help groups, the event promises a fusion of Maharashtra’s rich culture and the city’s traditions.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh revealed that a diverse range of programs would be featured in this fair, emphasizing the collaborative celebration of Maharashtra’s culture and the city’s heritage. The inauguration by Commissioner Singh is scheduled for January 11 at 5 pm, with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar serving as the chief guest. The event will also witness the presence of prominent figures such as Dilip Valse Patil, Chandrakant Patil, Dr Nilam Gorhe, Supriya Sule, and several others.

The Pavanathadi Jatra has proven to be an effective platform for women’s self-help groups and individual women to showcase and market their products. Numerous stalls have been allocated to women’s self-help groups, empowering them to display their creations. This year, special stalls have been reserved for the disabled, promoting inclusivity.

Cultural programs, featuring traditional folk artists from various regions, are scheduled daily at 6 pm. The fair promises a delightful blend of entertainment, traditional cultural performances, and diverse culinary experiences.

Notable cultural programs include ‘Maharashtrachi Lokdhara’ on January 11, ‘Music Makers’ presenting melodious songs on January 12, ‘Superhits of Bollywood’ on January 13, a Lavani Empress cultural program on January 14, and the grand finale with ‘Caravan Geetoka’ celebrating Marathi-Hindi songs on January 15, all starting at 6 pm.

Visitors can anticipate a gathering of dignitaries from various cities, municipalities, and fields during the fair. With an estimated three to five lakh visitors expected over the five consecutive days, the Municipal Corporation has made preparations to ensure a seamless experience for citizens.
