PCMC: After Video Of Woman Cop Accepting Bribe Goes Viral, Senior Cops Initiate Action

Pimpri Chinchwad, December 18, 2020: A clip of a woman bribing a policewoman on the streets of Pimpri Chinchwad has gone viral. This clip shows a young woman inserting cash directly into the pocket of a female traffic police officer.

According to the latest government rules, the police can no longer collect fines in cash. So the penalty is accepted through the ATM card. The administration was under the illusion that this would curb bribery.

However, at Shagun Chowk in Pimpri on December 15, a traffic officer and three traffic personnel were taking action against illegal drivers. It also included a female traffic police officer. The clip shows two women on a two-wheeler being stopped by traffic police. One of them, a young woman, approaches a traffic police officer after being signalled to come behind her.

As she approached, the clip shows the young woman placing money in the back pocket of a female police officer, as instructed by the female police officer. The voices of the youngsters who are making the clip can also be heard in this clip.

According to DCP Sudhir Hiremath, an enquiry was conducted and punitive action will be taken against the concerned cop.
