Pune University and Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering Sign MOU For Courses on Mountaineering
Pune, December 17, 2020: Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM), Pune and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have joined hands to develop first of its kind courses on Mountaineering.
Savitribai Phule Pune University has pioneered many novel and innovative initiatives and this is a path-breaking one which involves courses on adventure and mountaineering through methodical approaches.
GGIM shall provide the necessary professional expertise to conduct training, conduct research, provide necessary inputs for curriculum development. SPPU through its acumen in academic shall offer these courses, training for the benefit of those who may want to pursue professional careers in this area.
This MoU was signed yesterday in the presence of Vice-Chancellor – Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr N.S.Umarani, Director, Innovation, Incubation & Linkages – Dr Apoorva Palkar, Registrar – Dr Prafulla Pawar, Director, Sports – Dr Deepak Mane, Umesh Zirpe, Director, GGIM, Chandan Pawar, Director, GGIM, Bhushan Harshe, Head-Operations, GGIM, Dr Sumit Mandale & others were present for this.
“This MoU shall provide opportunities to all who want to make a professional career”, said Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor, SPPU.
“Continuing our engagements with various professionals this initiative will help students & other stakeholders to get training for practice”, Dr Deepak Mane, Director, Sports, SPPU.
The courses shall be announced soon and shall benefit students, professionals and other common individuals interested in this initiative. SPPU is the first University to offer Certificate and Diploma in Mountaineering & Adventure.
