PCMC: Autorickshaw Driver Saves Six Lives. Know How!
Pimpri, November 27, 2020: An auto-rickshaw driver who was declared brain dead, however, has given a new lease of life to six persons after his relatives decided to donate his organ. This 38-year-old driver was seriously injured in a road accident.
He was admitted at Dr DY PAtil medical hospital and research centre. During the treatment, he was declared as brain dead. After that, the hospital’s organ donation department counseled his relatives who later agreed to donate his organs.
Accordingly, his liver, heart, pancreas, cornea, both the kidneys among other organs were donated. The liver and kidney were given to the patients from DY Patil hospital while other organs were given to patients from other hospitals in the city.
DY Patil Deemed university pro vice-chancellor Dr Bhagyashree Patil thanked the relatives. Chancellor Dr PD Patil said that there is still a huge gap between organ donors and the patients in need of the organ donation.
