Pimpri, September 24, 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) organised a workshop under its ‘Vision@50’ initiative to prepare a five-year strategic roadmap for the city’s education sector on Wednesday. The workshop, conceptualised by Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, was attended by Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil, Assistant Commissioner KiranKumar More, Administrative Officer Sangeeta Bangar and representatives from Akanksha Foundation, Sattva Consulting, Sangath, Kinder Sports, Quality Council of India, Leadership for Equity, Pi Jam Foundation, Teach For India, Lend A Hand and UNICEF.

The session reviewed PCMC’s current education landscape through data-driven analysis of student learning outcomes, examined strategies to enrol out-of-school children, and shared best practices from local and global education systems. A special feature of the workshop was the participation of five students from PCMC schools, who shared their experiences and recommended increased use of digital tools, more effective teacher-student engagement, a stronger focus on sports and creative activities, and initiatives to promote mental well-being.

“Ensuring that every child in Pimpri Chinchwad receives quality and inclusive education is our key objective. This strategic roadmap is not just about improving schools, but about transforming the city’s entire education culture to respond to students’ needs, teachers’ efforts and society’s expectations,” said Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, PCMC.

Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil said, “Education is not limited to classroom learning — it forms the foundation of a child’s personality development and their contribution to society. This workshop combined the experiences of stakeholders, data insights, student voices and expert guidance to make the roadmap more effective and inclusive.”

Assistant Commissioner KiranKumar More added, “Our priority is to enable holistic development of every PCMC school student. The roadmap will focus on expanding digital learning, teacher training, infrastructure upgrades, and promoting creativity and mental health support, ensuring equal opportunities for all.”

The insights and suggestions from this workshop will be incorporated into a comprehensive, student-centred education strategy, which aims to set a new benchmark for civic school systems over the next five years.
