Pune – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday launched pilot project of e-complaint system on experimental basis in Pune, wherein citizens can now register a police complaint online at any city police station from anywhere.

After the pilot project, the system will be launched across the state.

Fadnavis launched the e-complaint system during the concluding ceremony of 14th Maharashtra Police Duty Meet at SRPF ground in Wanowrie.

“After completion of CCTNS project, first in country, now we have provided best internet connectivity to police for speed & efficiency”, CM Fadnavis said.

In order to register online complaint, you have to first create a user name and password on www.mhpolice.maharashtra.gov.in

According to police, the e-complaint module will allow people to lodge their complaints from anywhere. They can write their complaints in upto 12,000 words and send. It will be analysed by the police station concerned and if it is found to be cognisable in nature, the person will be called to the police station for registration of the FIR.

As per current laws, FIRs have to be registered at the police station only.

Also a new SMS gateway has been launched wherein people get acknowledgement of FIR on phone through system generated SMS, and also when accused are arrested, chargesheet/final report submitted in court.

Police officials believe that the system would reduce crowd at police stations.  The portal will act like a bridge between citizens and police. People can not only lodge a complaint with ease, but also track its status and progress online. The complaints would be seen on the dashboard of the in-charge of the respective police station.

Therefore register yourself on www.mhpolice.maharashtra.gov.in so that at the time of lodging complaint you can save valuable time in registration process of user id and password.

The e-complaint has been integrated with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS).

The CCTNS was launched in September 2015. This system has helped police stations across Maharashtra to exchange information in real time. As per latest information, over 1  crore daily reportings in police stations, about three lakhs  FIRs and seven lakhs non-cognisable offences (NC) have been registered using the system.

CCTNS has been lodged by the central government to link all the 14,000 police stations and other police offices in the country. It will help police keep track of criminals from any part of the country.
