Pimpri-Chinchwad: FIR Lodged Against Housing Society Members For Organising Dandiya

Pimpri Chinchwad, October 23, 2020: The Alandi police have registered a violation of rules case against three office bearers of Jalram Park Housing Society in Alandi for hosting a Dandiya function on Thursday. As per the government guidelines for Navratri festival, in the wake of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), no garba or dandiya functions are allowed to be held, nonetheless, mass gatherings are strictly prohibited. Despite these government rules, it has been alleged that the housing society had organised a Dandiya event in their society premises.

An FIR has been lodged against the society’s secretary Prafulla Malvade, president Pratap Shewalkar, and vice-president Mahadev Patil. The complaint is registered by police officer Macchindra Nagnath at Alandi Police station.

Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissioner Krishna Prakash stated that around15 to 20 men and women had gathered at the premises of Jalaram Park Housing Society on the occasion of Navratri.

Speaking to Punekarnews.in, Tejaswini Sawai, president of Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation, said, “we had circulated the orders stating not to celebrate Navratri in the society premises on the WhatsApp groups. All the society members should take note of this.”
