Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th April 2024: National Fire Service Week is observed annually from April 14 to April 20 by the Fire Department to promote fire safety and emergency preparedness. As part of this observance, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Fire Department is conducting a series of mock drills in various educational institutions, hospitals, residential buildings, and malls within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

The mock drills aim to prepare individuals for fire and emergency incidents, providing training on evacuation procedures and the proper handling of basic firefighting equipment. Recent drills took place in different locations, including schools in Rahatani, Pimple Saudagar, and Vallabh Nagar, as well as a mall in Wakad.

One such drill was conducted at SNBP School in Rahatani, where the fire department safely evacuated an injured person from the third floor using a stretcher. The fire was quickly controlled by using water to douse the flames. The students were briefed on emergency response, including how to handle firefighting equipment, in collaboration with the school administration and the fire brigade. About 400 students attended the drill.

At GK Gurukul in Pimple Saudagar, a mock drill emphasized the importance of proper coordination during fire emergencies to prevent loss of life and property damage. The demonstration involved the use of firefighting equipment, which was shown to students and teachers by the fire department. Principal Mayuri Mehta, administrator Prashant Naik, and around 300 students and staff participated.

At GG International School in Vallabhnagar, evacuation drills and basic firefighting equipment training were provided by Sub Officer Anil Dimble, Leading Fireman Vikas Naik, and other fire department staff. The exercises helped raise awareness and readiness among the students and school staff.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Fire Department will be providing many other schools and establishments with valuable experience through demonstrations of mock drills and other emergency response techniques.
