Pimpri Chinchwad: Rs 8500 Charged For Funeral, PCMC Says No To Pay Any Money

Pimpri, 26th April 2021: In Pimpri-Chinchwad, it has come to light that a person who died with Coronavirus infection, his family members have been charged Rs 8,500 for cremation.

A video of the case has gone viral on social media and it is suspected that some municipal employees are taking money from the individuals. On the one hand, the municipal administration is providing free firewood and wood for the funeral.

The coronavirus has spread rapidly in the Pimpri – Chinchwad municipal corporation (PCMC ) area and the death toll is on the rise.   It has come to light through a video that the employees in the Bhatnagar cemetery had taken Rs 8,500 for the cremation of a deceased. It is said that the ‘Wakhariwala’ and another individual takes the money.

Meanwhile, on Sunday ( 25th April) the PCMC clarified through a letter that the Municipal Corporation is providing the cow dungs and the wood for cremations free of cost.
