Pimpri Chinchwad – Scrap Shops in Chikhali-Kudalwadi Pose Security, Environmental Risks: MLA Raises Alarm

Pimpri, 17th December 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mahesh Landge has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take strict action against illegal scrap shop operators and Bangladeshi infiltrators in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area. Raising concerns during the ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in Nagpur, Landge emphasized the need for immediate measures to curb illegal activities and prevent potential law and order issues.
Highlighting the increasing presence of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas in the region, Landge said, “The infiltration of Bangladeshi citizens is a serious concern. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must take this issue seriously and instruct the Municipal Commissioner and Police Commissioner to act immediately. Such infiltrators pose a threat to national security and local livelihoods.”
According to Landge, Pimpri-Chinchwad police have already deported over 70 Bangladeshi citizens who had entered India illegally, primarily using forged Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and passports. He alleged that these infiltrators often arrive through the West Bengal border seeking employment but are also involved in anti-national activities.
Landge pointed out that the influx of infiltrators creates employment challenges for local youth, particularly in industrial hubs like Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon, and Ranjangaon. He added that “agents” are running a racket by providing fake identification documents, enabling infiltrators to secure jobs.
“Pimpri-Chinchwad police recently arrested 23 Bangladeshi infiltrators from various parts of the city. These operations must be intensified. The Chikhali-Kudalwadi area, in particular, requires a thorough combing operation to eliminate anti-social elements,” Landge asserted, while also warning of a possible backlash following such actions.
The issue of illegal scrap warehouses in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area was also raised. Landge pointed out that these facilities are harming the environment and public health. He stated, “Frequent fires in scrap shops cause property and environmental damage, and the presence of unregistered Bangladeshi and Rohingya workers raises further concerns about safety and security.”
Landge emphasized that these illegal operations, operating without records, pose a risk of fostering anti-national tendencies. “It is crucial to regulate these scrap shops and eliminate illegal workers to maintain law and order,” he said.
Responding to the concerns raised, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured Landge that immediate and appropriate action would be taken to address the issue of illegal infiltrators and the scrap shop menace in the region.
