Pimpri Chinchwad, 16th March 2023: The Chinchwad police have registered a case against a 42-year-old man, Rajesh Vasant Jamdar, for allegedly failing to comply with an order issued by the Senior Citizens Maintenance Tribunal to pay a monthly maintenance allowance to his parents. The complaint was filed by Jamdar’s 63-year-old mother, who alleged that her son did not take care of his parents, prompting them to approach the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Tribunal.

According to the complaint, the tribunal had ordered Jamdar to pay a monthly maintenance allowance to his parents, but he failed to do so between October 2022 and February 2023. Additionally, he allegedly mentally tortured his parents by writing on the walls of their house with black paint and disfiguring them. The police have registered a case against Jamdar under the Maintenance and Welfare of Senior Citizens and Parents Act and are investigating the matter further.

The case highlights the importance of respecting and taking care of elderly parents, as mandated by the Maintenance and Welfare of Senior Citizens and Parents Act. Such cases of neglect and abuse of senior citizens are unfortunately common in our society and must be addressed with urgency and severity.
