Pimpri Chinchwad: Wakad Police Return 120 Stolen Mobile Phones Worth Rs 20 Lakh to Owners

Wakad, 21st December 2024: The police have successfully returned 120 lost and stolen mobile phones from the Wakad Police Station limits in Pimpri-Chinchwad to their rightful owners. Many of these stolen phones were found to be active in other states. The police traced and recovered the phones through technical investigations, contacting the individuals who had purchased them, and using legal measures to reclaim them.

Mobile phones have become an essential part of daily life, and losing one can be a significant inconvenience. However, thanks to the efforts of the Wakad police, 120 such phones, worth a total of ₹20 lakh, were recovered and returned. These phones were traced to states like Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh. The owners expressed their gratitude to the police, noting how rare it is to recover a lost or stolen phone, and urged citizens to remain vigilant.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wakad Division) Sunil Kurade. The recovery team, led by the Senior Police Inspector of Wakad Police Station, included Police Constables Shahaji Dhaygude, Kauntey Kharade, and Pramod Gayke, who played a crucial role in the success of this initiative.
