Kasba Peth, 14th August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has accelerated infrastructure upgrades in the city’s central areas, with a key focus on the construction of a subway to address chronic traffic congestion, potholes, and other civic issues.

Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the administration is working simultaneously on immediate measures and long-term solutions, aiming to complete stalled road repair works and clear encroachments from footpaths. “Positive results of these efforts will be visible within the coming year,” he assured.

The inspection drive was conducted in the backdrop of Ganeshotsav preparations, with MLA Hemant Rasane, the Municipal Commissioner, senior PMC officials, and heads of key departments touring the Kasba Assembly constituency to assess infrastructure readiness and interact directly with residents. Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P., Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Rishikesh Rawale, Road Department Head Aniruddha Pawaskar, Solid Waste Department Head Sandeep Kadam, Water Supply Department Head Nandkumar Jagtap, MSEDCL’s Kakade, along with former corporators and office bearers, were also present.

MLA Rasane highlighted that Pune’s Ganeshotsav is globally renowned and, for the first time, has been declared the “Maharashtra State Festival” by the state government. “It is crucial to upgrade infrastructure for the convenience of lakhs of devotees. The detailed project reports for the two proposed subway corridors — Shaniwarwada to Swargate and Sarasbagh to Shaniwarwada — are in their final stages, and the state government has shown a positive response,” he said.

During the tour, Rasane, Ram, and Rawale also traveled in an autorickshaw to experience firsthand the challenges faced by commuters and to gather suggestions from citizens.
