PMPML Records Massive Rs 4 Crore Revenue Surge Over Rakshabandhan in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pune, 1st September 2023: Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad residents were treated to an abundance of bus services on Wednesday and Thursday, courtesy of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), in celebration of Rakshabandhan. Over these two days, PMPML buses generated an impressive revenue of Rs 4 crore 11 lakh 72 thousand 237.
PMPML, in collaboration with the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA), provides bus services to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. To cater to the heightened demand during the Rakshabandhan festival, PMPML deployed an additional 96 buses on the 30th and 31st of August 2023, supplementing the regular fleet of 1837 daily buses. These extra buses were strategically assigned to congested routes.
The response from passengers to PMPML’s bus services on the 30th and 31st of August 2023 was overwhelmingly positive. On the first day, a remarkable 13 lakh 73 thousand 819 citizens utilized the 96 surplus buses, contributing to a revenue of 1 crore 95 lakh 27 thousand 384 rupees. The following day, on August 31, 14 lakh 96 thousand 282 citizens availed the services, generating a revenue of 2 crore 16 lakh 44 thousand 853 rupees.
In total, an impressive 28 lakh 70 thousand 101 citizens chose PMPML for their transportation needs during these two days, leading to a cumulative revenue of Rs 4 crore 11 lakh 72 thousand 237. This substantial response underscores the significance of efficient and accessible public transport during festivals and special occasions.
