Pune: Dramatic Rescue Effort Saves Man Trapped In Mula River Near Wakad Crematorium
Wakad, 1st September 2023: In a swift and daring operation, the combined efforts of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Fire Department and the Wakad police team successfully rescued a man who had fallen into the Mula River near the Wakad Crematorium.
The incident took place at approximately 1:17 PM today when the victim, identified as Raja Haribhau Bhosale, aged approximately 55 years, fell from the bridge that spans the river.
The rescue operation was initiated promptly after Police Constable Prashant Dhale informed the main fire station via phone about the accident. The fire department responded swiftly, dispatching three fire engines to the scene, comprising one from the Rahatni Sub Fire Station and two from the main fire station.
Bhosale had fallen from the bridge while on his way to the riverside to answer nature’s call near the Wakad crematorium. He landed on the riverbed, becoming ensnared amidst the bushes and debris on the riverbank. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the police summoned the fire brigade to rescue the trapped individual.
Fire department personnel from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Fire Department descended to the riverbed from the bridge, employing ropes and makeshift cloth stretchers to safely extricate Bhosale from the tangled vegetation. The rescue operation was conducted from a height of approximately twenty feet. Following the successful rescue, Bhosale was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
The operation involved a total of 20 fire department personnel and three fire engines. The timely and coordinated response of the rescue teams averted a potential tragedy, exemplifying their dedication to ensuring public safety and swift response to emergencies.
