Pune, 14th September 2022: Due to the failure of the feeder in Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), the power supply was interrupted. The power supply was interrupted for almost 12 hours.

The guests and the state Chief Election Commissioner Shrikant Deshpande, who had come to attend a conference in the university, had to suffer due to a power cut.

Due to a fault in the feeder in the university, the power supply was interrupted around 12:30 am. After that, the power supply was restored after nearly twelve hours. However, during the inaugural session of the conference ‘Participation of Transgenders in Democracy’ organized by the Chief Electoral Officer and Savitribai Phule Pune University, the problem was also expressed due to the power cut.

Therefore, the university is responsible for interruptions in the power supply. MSEDCL Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited explained that it is not responsible for it. University Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar said, “The power supply was interrupted due to a fault in the feeder on the university premises.” However, it was repaired by technicians on Wednesday afternoon. Electricity supply was started through Generator to avoid any problems in the program organized with the State Election Commission.
