New Delhi, 18th February 2025: While the name of Delhi’s new Chief Minister is yet to be announced, preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are in full swing at Ramlila Maidan. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), returning to power in Delhi after 27 years, aims to make the event a grand and memorable occasion.

Scheduled for 20th February, the swearing-in ceremony will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of NDA-ruled states, along with several senior leaders and VIP guests. The event is expected to showcase NDA’s unity, much like the recent oath-taking ceremonies in Haryana and Maharashtra.

With BJP securing 48 out of 70 seats, the legislative party is set to meet on 19th February to elect its leader under the guidance of a national observer. Following this, the newly elected leader, along with BJP MLAs and MPs, will visit Raj Niwas to stake claim for government formation. The Chief Minister and six ministers will take the oath of office at 4:30 PM on 20th February at Ramlila Maidan.

BJP National General Secretaries Vinod Tawde and Tarun Chugh have been tasked with overseeing the event’s organization. In a meeting with Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, they finalized the programme’s structure. Former Mayor Jai Prakash is supervising the venue preparations, which commenced on Monday morning.

To accommodate the expected crowd, two stages will be constructed—one for the CM, ministers, Prime Minister, and senior leaders, and another for other dignitaries. More than 50,000 chairs will be arranged for the over one lakh attendees. Parking facilities for buses will be provided near Rajghat and Mata Sundari College.

The guest list includes NDA chief ministers and deputy chief ministers, BJP MPs, senior leaders, campaign strategists, and representatives from Delhi’s 250 religious places. Invitations have also been extended to BJP functionaries from booth to state levels, prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress leaders, slum community representatives, sanitation workers, Resident Welfare Association members, and religious and social organization heads.

According to news agency ANI, more than 50 high-profile leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, will attend the ceremony. All BJP state chief ministers, Union ministers, and NDA leaders are also expected to be present.

The swearing-in will be preceded by a cultural programme featuring music and performances. The guest list includes Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders, spiritual gurus, industrialists, and celebrities. Additionally, BJP workers deployed in the Delhi Assembly elections, Ladli Bahana beneficiaries, farmers, and around 30,000 guests have been invited, making the event one of the grandest political gatherings in the capital.
