Mandya, 18th February 2025: A four-year-old boy was fatally shot in Mandya district, Karnataka, after a 15-year-old boy accidentally discharged a loaded firearm while playing a game at a poultry farm. The incident occurred on Sunday when the teenager, visiting the farm with his parents, discovered a single-barrel breech-loading firearm hanging on the wall.

Mistaking the gun for a toy during a game of ‘police and robber,’ the teenager unintentionally pulled the trigger, and the bullet struck the child, identified as Abhishek, in the stomach. Despite immediate efforts to save him, the young boy succumbed to his injuries.

The teenager’s parents were present at the farm, but police confirmed that the firearm was found loaded. Nagamangala police have launched an investigation into how the weapon was accessible to the young boy. Authorities are working to understand the circumstances that led to the presence of the firearm at the farm and the tragic outcome.

“This was a horrible accident, and the boy’s family is in deep shock,” said a police officer involved in the investigation. Authorities are investigating further to ensure accountability and safety measures regarding firearms on private property.
