Prepare for Success: Crack The UPSC NDA Exam For Indian Air Force Entry
New Delhi, 10th July 2023: The Indian Air Force (IAF) functions as the aerial branch of the Indian Armed Forces, with a primary focus on safeguarding Indian airspace and engaging in aerial warfare during times of conflict. It was established on October 8, 1932, and upholds the motto “Touch the sky with Glory.”
Each year, a multitude of students apply to join the IAF, but some individuals lack awareness regarding the selection process and eligibility criteria. Following successful completion of all necessary procedures, candidates may receive an invitation to join the academy.
To be eligible for the IAF, students pursuing a major in science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics can appear for the UPSC NDA exam, also known as the National Defense Academy Examination. This examination is conducted annually, and interested candidates need to visit the official UPSC website to access the official notification. The Indian Air Force encompasses three branches: the Flying branch, the Technical branch, and the Non-Technical branch.
Eligibility is determined by age criteria, which stipulates that applicants must be between 16.5 and 19 years old. The examination process consists of a written test, an SSB interview, a Pilot Aptitude Test (PABT), and a Computerized Pilot Selection test.
The written examination consists of two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test. The Math section includes 300 questions, while the General Ability Test has 600 questions. These questions cover various subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Affairs. The interview process is conducted in two phases spanning five days, and it holds a weightage of 900 marks.
The NDA Exam takes place twice a year, typically in April and November. Candidates aspiring to join the Indian Air Force should possess qualities such as the ability to step out of their comfort zones, display respect towards their profession and others, and uphold discipline and loyalty. These attributes are fundamental requirements for aspiring Indian Air Force personnel.
Since 1950, the IAF has been involved in numerous successful missions and operations, aligning with its goals as outlined in the Armed Forces Act of 1947, the Constitution of India, and the Air Force Act of 1950.
