Pune: 189 Prisoners Will Be Released On January 26 In Maharashtra

Pune, 19th January 2023: 189 prisoners in the state will be released on January 26. 189 prisoners have received special remission in their sentences on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav year of Independence.

These prisoners include female prisoners above 50 years of age who have served 50 per cent of their sentence and transgenders who again have served 50 per cent of their sentence and those above 50 years of age.

Along with this, the sentence of prisoners aged between 18 to 21 will be waived. Those who have not committed the crime again and have completed their sentence will also be released on January 26. The information regarding the same has been given by the Additional Director General Amitabh Gupta of the Maharashtra prisons department.
