Pune: 26-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Locked Wagholi House; Live-in Partner Booked for Murder

Wagholi, 3rd June 2026: A shocking murder case has come to light from Wagholi in Pune, where a 26-year-old woman living in a live-in relationship was allegedly beaten to death by her partner over suspicions about her character. The accused allegedly fled after locking the house from outside, leaving the body inside. The crime came to light on June 1 after a foul smell began emanating from the residence.

The deceased has been identified as Rihata Khatun, a native of Medinipur district in West Bengal. Following a complaint lodged by Imran Rajesab Bodle Khan, the Wagholi Police registered a murder case against the accused, identified as Ravi Sameer Vairal.

According to police, Rihata and Ravi had been living together in the Avhalwadi area of Wagholi for several months. Investigators said Ravi had been suspecting Rihata’s character for some time, leading to frequent arguments between the couple.

On May 28, a heated quarrel reportedly broke out between them. In a fit of rage, Ravi allegedly assaulted Rihata brutally, resulting in her death. After realizing she had died, the accused allegedly panicked, left the body inside the house, locked the premises from outside and fled.

As the body began to decompose, a strong foul smell spread through the building, raising suspicion among residents. Locals alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and broke open the lock. Upon entering the house, officers discovered Rihata’s body.

Senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VII) Prashant Amrutkar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Nutan Pawar, and Senior Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad of Wagholi Police Station, visited the crime scene as part of the investigation.

The case is currently being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Vijay Chandan, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
