Pune: 39 Unauthorized Structures Demolished in Wagholi and Bavdhan by PMRDA

Pune, 2nd May 2025: In a continuing drive to improve urban safety and streamline city planning, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has intensified action against unauthorized hoardings and illegal constructions across its jurisdiction.
In the latest operation, unauthorized hoardings were dismantled at three locations in Loni Kalbhor, located in Haveli taluka. The crackdown, led by a dedicated PMRDA team, comes in response to growing concerns about the risks posed by such hoardings, particularly during unseasonal rains and strong winds, which can cause structural failures and pose danger to the public.
“Dangerous, over-height, and double-structured hoardings in high-traffic areas must be removed by the owners. If not, we will take unilateral action to dismantle them,” said Dr. Dipti Suryavanshi-Patil, Joint Commissioner of PMRDA, urging advertising agencies and hoarding owners to seek proper approvals from the authority.
The ongoing campaign has also prompted several advertisers to voluntarily remove illegal hoardings and begin the process of securing official development permissions.
Senior Officials Overseeing the Operation:
Dr. Yogesh Mhase – Metropolitan Commissioner
Deepak Singla – Additional Metropolitan Commissioner
Amol Tambe – Superintendent of Police and Vigilance Officer
Dr. Dipti Suryavanshi-Patil – Joint Commissioner
The field action was executed with support from Deputy Collector Pramod Kudale, Tehsildars Ravindra Ranjane and Sachin Mhaske, Police Inspector Mahesh Kumar Sartape, and engineers Vishnu Awad, Sharad Khomane, Pranav Dengle, and Tejas Madane, along with local security personnel.
Demolition Drive Against Illegal Constructions
Simultaneously, PMRDA has also stepped up enforcement against unauthorized constructions. On Wednesday, illegal encroachments were cleared from Wagholi (Haveli taluka) and the road stretch from Bakaji Corner to the cemetery in Bavdhan (Mulshi taluka).
During the operation, 39 unauthorized structures — including tin sheds, RCC walls, compound boundaries, and roadside stalls — were demolished. Officials say the removal of these structures will help ease traffic congestion and improve road safety in the affected areas.
