Baramati, 7th July 2022: In order to be self-sufficient in electricity, the central government has given a subsidy of up to 40 per cent to the solar power project on the roof of the house.

MSEDCL has also appointed a nodal engineer at each divisional, divisional and sub-divisional level to operate the solar system in the shortest possible time. This engineer will coordinate between MSEDCL, the agency and the customer to resolve the customer’s queries. Soon department wise consumer fairs will also be organized for this.

A total of 52 agencies are registered in this area in Baramati Circle. The list is available online. The customer has to choose one of them. A meeting of all these agency representatives was held by Chief Engineer Sunil Pavade at Baramati. The meeting was to expedite the plan. It was attended by Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers from Solapur, Satara and Baramati Circles. The second phase of the rooftop solar project is underway in the state by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Under the scheme, 40 per cent subsidy will be given to domestic customers for 1 to 3 kW capacity and 20 per cent subsidy for projects with more than 3 kW capacity. Housing and residential welfare organizations are also included in the household. The government has fixed an approximate amount for the grant, which may actually cost more or less. This may vary due to the cost of building height, meters to be installed and cables required for earthing. While applying, the processing fee will be Rs.500 for low pressure customers and Rs 5000 for high pressure household customers.

Exactly how much does it cost? : Considering the cost of 1 KW, 40 percent of the price fixed by the government of Rs. 46820 i.e. 18728 will be given as subsidy. Excluding the grant, the customer may incur an estimated cost of Rs. 28092 in addition to the processing fee. The higher the capacity of the project, the lower the cost per watt per kg. E.g. If a housing company installs a solar system with a capacity of more than 10 kW on their roof, the cost per kilowatt is about Rs 37,020.

Where to apply: To apply for a rooftop solar system, MSEDCL customers should visit the company’s website or https://www.mahadiscom.in/ismart/. While applying, fill in the following information by mentioning the electricity consumer number, email ID and mobile number. Customers whose sanctioned power load is less than 3 KW. They do not need to increase the load.

Five year contract: Guarantee for maintenance of solar power project will be 5 years. Such agreement will be between the concerned agency and the customer. The text of the agreement is available online. All documents need to be downloaded and uploaded properly. MSEDCL Nodal Engineers and Agencies will assist in overcoming the difficulties encountered in the process.
