Pune: 5 Talukas Hit By Taukte, 191 Houses Damaged; 90 persons Dispersed

Pune, May 18, 2021: A day after Cyclone Taukte hit Mumbai and most part of Maharashtra witnesses’ unprecedented rain, winds.  Many places like Mulshi, Bhor, Maval, Khed, and Ambegaon talukas of the Pune district also witnesses the cyclone taukte

According to preliminary information, the cyclone has damaged 191 houses in the district, authorities have evacuated 90 people, and three were injured. Information on the damage caused by the cyclone is being sought from the taluka.

As it is raining in the valley area at present, work is underway to know the damage in some areas. According to preliminary information, In Mulshi-75, Bhor-9, Maval-10, Khed-96 and one house in Ambegaon have been damaged. Two persons sustained minor injuries when a house collapsed in Shirur.

 One of the injured in Khed was released home after the first aid. 90 persons from Bhor taluka were evacuated. The primary schools of Zilla Parishad in Khamboli village in Mulshi taluka have been damaged due to the cyclone. Also, parts of the Gram Panchayat office of Tamhini village have been blown up. A primary school in Divegaon in Khed taluka has been completely damaged. So the tin sheds of two Anganwadis have flown away. Two goats and two sheep have died due to electric shock in Baramati taluka. In the meantime, seven teams have been sent to Khed and Ambegaon talukas. One squad is in Khed and six squads are in Ambegaon.

Due to the cyclone, rains lashed most of the talukas on Monday. The average rainfall in the district is 71.14 mm. Velha taluka has the highest number of 20.25 mm of rainfall. Haveli-10.60, Mulshi-8.50, Bhor-7.63, Maval-6.91, Junnar-0.78., Khed-0.67, Ambegaon-2.40, Shirur-0.6 mm, Baramati-0.50, Indapur -0, Daund-0.88, and 5 mm of rain was recorded in Purandar.
