Loni Kalbhor, 15th September 2025: A swift rescue operation by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and the Pune Disaster Response Force (PDRF) saved dozens of lives after heavy flooding struck Theur village in Haveli taluka early Monday morning. According to IMD, the Loni Kalbhor area received over 180 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

At around 3 am, a stream overflowed into the Rupe Vasti locality, inundating homes and trapping nearly 100 residents. The floodwater affected a settlement of about 150 people, leaving families stranded inside their houses.

On receiving an alert, personnel from PMRDA’s Wagholi Fire Station, along with the PDRF team, rushed to the spot and launched a coordinated rescue effort. The teams successfully evacuated 70 residents to safety.

While there was no human casualty, several domestic animals—including buffaloes, goats, and poultry—were either rescued or saved partially. Unfortunately, some animals were washed away in the floodwaters.

Authorities said a major tragedy was averted due to the prompt response of the rescue teams. Relief measures are continuing in the area.
