Pune a bigger city than Mumbai?

Pune, December 19, 2020: With 23 more villages merging into Pune Municipal Corporation, Pune city is set to become bigger than Mumbai in terms of area. Currently, Pune is 331.57 sq. kilometres with the merger of 23 villages, 184.61 sq. km will be added to its current area and the total area then will be 516.18 sq.km. Mumbai is 450 sq. km.

In 1997, 38 new villages were merged into Pune. At that time, Pune was almost similar to Mumbai but with merger of 23 more villages, it will surpass Mumbai.

With proposed merger of 23 villages, it will have added 184.61 sq.km. The total area thus will be 516.18 sq.km.
