Pune: ACB Busts Bribery Ring At Yerwada Police Station, Head Constable Arrested

Yerwada, 13th June 2023: A head constable from Yerwada police station (Pune City Police) has been arrested, and two others have been booked in a bribery case by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The complainant, who operates a travel agency, alleged that the constables demanded a sum of Rs 20,000 in exchange for registering a complaint regarding his car accident.

The head constables involved in the case are Rajendra Dixit, Jairam Savalkar, and Vinayak Mudholkar.

According to the ACB, constable Dixit was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of thirteen thousand rupees at the Yerwada police station after a compromise was reached between the parties involved.

The operation was conducted by a team led by Superintendent of Police (ACB-Pune range) Amol Tambe, with the assistance of Additional SP Sheetal Janve and DySP Shrihari Patil. The team consisted of Police Inspectors Bharat Salunkhe, Praveen Nimbalkar, ASI Mukund Ayachit, and constables Bhushan Thakur and Pandurang Mali.

The ACB has urged citizens to report any instances of government officials demanding bribes by contacting them on the toll-free number 1064 or visiting their office in Central Building near Sassoon Hospital, Pune.
